Connecting Zoho CRM to Oryon

Oryon reads your Zoho CRM org once a day and shows leads, contacts, deals, deal value and won revenue beside your advertising, social, web analytics and payment data. The connection is read-only and works with orgs hosted on Zoho's Canadian data centre.

Before you start

An Oryon workspace and the right role

Zoho CRM is connected from inside an existing Oryon workspace. Only a workspace owner or admin can connect, configure or disconnect a source; a member who opens Connections is sent back to the dashboard.

A Zoho CRM org on the Canadian data centre

Oryon's Zoho connector works with the Canadian data centre only (accounts.zohocloud.ca / www.zohoapis.ca). An org hosted in another Zoho region cannot be connected. To tell which one you are on, look at the address you sign in to Zoho with: it ends in .zohocloud.ca or .zoho.ca for the Canadian data centre, versus .zoho.com, .zoho.eu, .zoho.in or .zoho.com.au for the others.

A Zoho user with read access to Leads, Contacts and Deals

You sign in to Zoho as yourself, and Oryon reads with that user's access. Use a user who can read the Leads, Contacts and Deals modules of the org you want to connect.

Connect Zoho CRM

Open Connections

In Oryon, choose Connections in the left sidebar. Zoho CRM appears in the CRM category of available connectors.

Choose Connect on Zoho CRM

If another CRM — HubSpot or Salesforce — is already connected to this workspace, Oryon first shows a warning dialog titled "Connecting Zoho CRM alongside another CRM". It explains that deals and contacts present in both CRMs are counted twice, that attribution stops having a single answer, and that nothing de-duplicates the two sources yet. Choose Continue anyway to proceed, or Cancel.

Sign in to Zoho and approve the access

Zoho asks you to sign in, then lists what Oryon requests: five read scopes — ZohoCRM.coql.READ, ZohoCRM.modules.leads.READ, ZohoCRM.modules.contacts.READ, ZohoCRM.modules.deals.READ and ZohoCRM.org.READ — plus offline access, which lets Oryon refresh its token so the daily sync keeps running without you signing in again. Approving returns you to Oryon.

Back in Oryon: nothing to configure

The banner reads "Zoho CRM is connected." and the card shows Connected. There is no property or account to pick: Oryon resolves your org from the token itself, so syncing starts automatically and there is nothing else to set up.

Wait for the first sync

The first sync backfills up to 365 days of history so your charts and period comparisons work immediately. It runs in the background; until it finishes, the Zoho CRM source page reads "Connected — waiting for the first sync to bring in data." with a Load data button that runs the sync right away instead of waiting for the nightly run.

What Oryon reads

Oryon queries your org's Leads, Contacts and Deals modules and produces five daily figures, shown on the Zoho CRM source page as a funnel from Leads to Contacts to Deals to Won revenue.

FigureWhat it counts
LeadsLeads created that day
ContactsContacts created that day
DealsDeals created that day
Deal valueThe summed Amount of the deals created that day
Won revenueThe Amount of deals won, dated by each deal's Closing Date

Amounts are in your org's currency.

What is stored

Daily totals only — one number per metric per day. Oryon does not store lead, contact or deal records, and nothing identifying a person is retained.

Keeping data current

Automatic daily sync

Oryon re-reads your org once a day and refreshes a trailing window, so a deal that closes late or an amount edited after the fact corrects itself without any action from you.

Refresh now

The Zoho CRM source page has a Refresh button in its header. It runs the sync immediately and reports "Data refreshed." If it cannot run, it says "Couldn't refresh right now. Please try again in a moment."

Choosing a period

The period picker offers Months, Quarters, Years and a Custom range. A day with no data shows a dash, not a zero.

Disconnecting

Open Connections and choose Disconnect

Find the Zoho CRM card and choose Disconnect. This removes the connection and its credential from Oryon.

Revoke Oryon on Zoho's side, if you wish

In Zoho Accounts (accounts.zohocloud.ca), open Security, then Connected apps, find Oryon and revoke it. If you do this before disconnecting in Oryon, the card shows Reconnect required and you are notified: "Zoho CRM stopped syncing because access was revoked. Reconnect to resume."

Your history is kept

The daily totals already synced are kept, so the Zoho CRM page keeps showing past periods and reconnecting later restores your history instead of starting over.

Troubleshooting

"Zoho CRM org lookup failed"

The full message reads "Zoho CRM org lookup failed (…). This connector supports the Canadian data center (zohoapis.ca) only — an account hosted in another Zoho region cannot be connected." Your org is hosted in a Zoho region other than Canada, and the connector cannot read it. Check the sign-in address described under Before you start; an org on .zoho.com, .zoho.eu, .zoho.in or .zoho.com.au cannot be connected.

Won revenue shows a dash while deals exist

Won revenue is dated by each deal's Closing Date, not by the day the deal was created. A dash while Deals shows a count means the won deals' Closing Date falls outside the period you are looking at, or their Amount is empty. Widen the period, or fill in the Amount on the deal in Zoho.

The card shows Error

Oryon reads your org in pages of 200 records, up to 100,000 records per query. An org where a single query over the backfill window returns more than 100,000 records fails the sync and the card shows the Error chip. Contact support.

The overlap dialog appeared

Another CRM — HubSpot or Salesforce — is already connected to the workspace. If you continue, deals and contacts that exist in both are counted twice and nothing de-duplicates them. If you are replacing the other CRM, disconnect it first.
